Odisha Chief Minister distributed the smart health card of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: 2/11/21Odisha chief Minister Naveen Patnaik distributed the smart health card of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) and dedicated various development projects in Sambalpur district on Tuesday.

During an event on the occasion at Kuchinda, the Chief Minister inaugurated the program by awarding the smart health card to some beneficiaries of the district. Around 7.73 lakh people of the district can avail the benefits of the smart health card.

In addition to distributing the Health Cards, Patnaik also launched various projects worth around Rs 1553 crores out of which projects worth Rs 350 crore were inaugurated.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted Sambalpur’s contribution to the development of Odisha and said that Sambalpur has an important role to play in the culture, politics, education, history and economy of the state. Sambalpuri saree, Sambalpuri song is an identity of the great culture of Odisha.

The Chief Minister said that millions of devotees are coming to Samlei Pitha for the blessings of Maa Samlei. So the Chief Minister sought the cooperation of all in the efforts of the government for the development of the Pitha.

The Chief Minister said the state government has been focusing on drinking water. He said Rs 1,000 crore has been provided today for the drinking water supply in Sambalpur. The drinking water could reach all the families in the villages and towns.

Stating that all houses in Kuchinda and Redhakhol NACs have been provided with piped water, Patnaik announced that piped water would be provided to every household in Sambalpur district by 2022.

It is worthwhile to mention that the Chief Minister had on the occasion of 75th Independence Day announced to provide Smart Health Cards to 3.5 crore people in the State under BSKY.

The Smart Health Card will be provided to 3.5 crore people of 96 lakh families. Each family can avail treatment cost up to Rs 5 lakh per annum. Women members can avail this benefit up to Rs 10 lakh every year.

Odisha is the first state in the country to have provided such facilities in the health sector. This card will be given to all the beneficiaries phase-wise.

Beneficiaries of National and State Food Security Schemes, Annapurna, and Antodaya beneficiaries will get this card. The beneficiaries can avail health services in more than 200 hospital chains of the country including Odisha.
