 Normal life was affected in several districts of Odisha for Bharat Bandh

Bhubaneswar:27/9/21: Normal life was affected in several districts of Odisha on Monday amid protests by farmer organisations as part of the Bharat Bandh by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), a united front of farmer outfits in the country, demanding repeal of three farm laws.

While members of Odisha Krushak Sangha are staging a peaceful protest at Master Canteen Square in Bhubaneswar today morning, many protestors were seen burning tyres on roads in Rayagada and Bargarh district.

Several shops, business establishments, government, and private offices, have been closed across the State. Major roads, State and National Highways have been blocked affecting vehicular communication.

The protesting farmers are demanding the repeal of the three farm laws passed by Parliament last year and have expressed apprehension that they would pave the way for the dismantling of the minimum support price system, leaving them at the mercy of big corporate houses.

The government has maintained that the new laws will provide farmers with better opportunities. It has also accused the opposition parties of misleading
