Odisha will soon get the remaining funds under the Rashtriya Uchatar Shiksha Abhiyan:Dharmendra Pradhan

Bhubaneswar:21/8/21:Odisha will soon get the remaining funds under the Rashtriya Uchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for academic excellence, informed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following a review of the status of mass and higher education in the State at a meeting in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

Launched in 2013, RUSA aims to provide funds to select higher education institutions in states and improve the quality of state institutions while ensuring conformity to prescribed norms.

The Minister also discussed the various aspects of the National Education Policy with officials of School and Mass Education and Higher Education Departments of Odisha in the meeting.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has hampered two academic years in the country. Hence, the academic session of 2021-22 should continue immediately following the completion of the vaccination drive,” said Pradhan.

The Minister hinted at the commencement of classroom teachings in PG colleges when he said, “Classroom teaching will be imparted to all Post Graduate students soon while keeping in mind the pandemic situation.”

Meanwhile, the Secretary, Odisha Education Department, Saswat Mishra said the Union Minister mooted for cooperation between the Centre and the State for development in various aspects of higher education.

“The Minister emphasised on joint efforts by both Centre and State for improvement of teachers in research, publication work and various other aspects. Various schemes of the Government of India, Government of Odisha and the University Grants Commission (UGC) were also up for discussion in the meeting,” said Mishra.
