New Academic Session Begins at IIT Bhubaneswar

 Bhubaneswar:7/8/21: At IIT Bhubaneswar, the admissions into all the programs except for the first year B.Tech are completed, the students have been registered, and the new academic session was commenced timely from 02^nd Aug 2021. This year176, 110, and 44 students joined in M.Tech, M.Scand Ph.D. programme in the current academic session. An Orientation programme was held for them on 06^th Aug 2021 to welcome and orient them to the systems of the Institute, i.e., to the academic, extra-academic, and hostel activities of the institute. On this occasion, Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar addressed the students, followed by Dr. P.R. Sahu, Dean, Academic Affairs, all online at the Community Center.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof R.V. Raja Kumar complimented the students and reiterated that the M.Tech and Ph.D. students constitute an important class of students who have done well in their Bachelors, and come to the IIT for further specialization in their domain. Most of them either join in R&D organizations or educational institutions of the country and thus directly adds to the R&D pool of the country. He further added that the pandemic posed many challenges to educational Institutes on all fronts across the globe. Despite the pandemic, IIT Bhubaneswar has been successful in making several innovations, come up with unique mechanisms for running its academics in an uncompromised manner including, devising a robust method of conducting conventional pen and paper exams online, etc., and applied the same very successfully in carrying the performance evaluation of students. This apart, this Institute could switch to online education with zero gaps, offer laboratory practice in a mix of online and with the physical presence of students, and could run timely academics during the pandemic. He was happy to mention that the institute was honoured with the “University of the Year” award by FICCI recently for its performance during the pandemic.

Dr. P.R. Sahu made a presentation on the salient feature of the academic programmes and the academic regulations. Others present on the occasion include Prof. Sujit Roy, Dean R & D,  DebarajRath, Registrar along with faculty, officers, and staff of IIT Bhubaneswar. The orientation programme had addressed by all the Heads of the School, Dr. Shantanu Pal, Warden, Dr. SankarsanMohapatro, President, Student Gymkhana, Dr. Srinivas BhaskarKaranki, PIC Counselling and faculty advisors, IIT Bhubaneswar.
