Odisha government recommended the names of Dutee Chand and Birendra Lakra for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award

Bhubaneswar:29/6/21: The Odisha government recommended the names of Sprinter Dutee Chand and International Hockey Player Birendra Lakra for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and Arjun Puraskar for 2021 respectively. The Sports and Youth Services Department of Odisha today made the recommendations for the National Sports Awards 2021 to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Lakra is an Olympian and a member of the Indian Hockey team that will participate in  Tokyo Olympics.

The department also recommended the names of Senior Hockey Coach, Kalu Charan Choudhury, and ex-Olympian Anuradha Biswal for Dronacharya Award and Dhyan Chand Award 2021 respectively.

In its letter, the department recommended the KIIT Deemed to be University and the Odisha Mining Corporation for Rashtriya Khel Prostahan Puraskar 2021 for their contribution towards the identification and nurturing of talents.
