Bhubaneswar:22/6/21:An ‘Annual Report Card’ of Bhubaneswar BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi was submitted by her before the people of the constituency on Monday. The report pertains to her 2nd year as a Parliamentarian (May 23, 2020, to May 22, 2021).
She is the first MP who has started the practice of submitting her report card before her constituents.
Notably, during the period when MPLAD was discontinued in the country owing to Covid-19, Sarangi mobilized funds from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) head worth Rs 96 lakh. Among various important CSR works, Ugratara Temple Solar Lighting System worth Rs 25 lakh and single solar lights and mini max solar light system worth Rs 43 lakh deserve special mention. Many development projects have been grounded by effecting convergence of resources.
A large number of drains and culverts were constructed in the Municipal Corporation area. However, most eye-catching works pertain to NHAI. With constant follow funds, the NHAI projects worth Rs 114 crore could take off. These projects include one flyover at Hanspal, three-vehicle underpasses (VUPs), and 3 over bridges. Besides, due to her intervention two Under Passes at Mugpal and Barabati in Jajpur district by NHAI could be materialised. Sarangi closely monitored the implementation of all Central and State Government schemes in association with the district administration in her constituency. Public grievance redressal received utmost focus. A total of 2,150 grievances were received and 2,106 were redressed. Besides, 10 health-related cases requiring huge financial assistance were recommended by the MP for assistance under Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) and Rs 22 lakh was received by the patients.
As regards participation in the Lok Sabha, it was 100% attendance during the period under report. She participated in seven debates on Government Bills, raised 37 starred questions, and actively participated in the deliberation of various Parliamentary Standing Committees. As the national spokesperson of the party, she participated in 282 debates in various TV channels during the period under report.
She also worked for various sections of society by setting up a slew of organisations. AJITA, a women’s body stands tall with around 10,000 members; Youth for Action has around 5,000 members.
SAMARTH, a society of senior citizens, intellectuals, and professionals, and BHARASA, a welfare trust for extending financial support to the needy, deserve special mention. Annapurna, a welfare trust for feeding the hungry, and Ama Paribar have also been set up. It was targeted to interact with around 300 people daily during the last year, said a Press release.
