Bhubaneswar:12/5/21: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has offered his gratitude to the frontline warriors as the world observes International Nurses Day on Wednesday.
Taking to Twitter, Patnaik said, “Nurses are at the forefront in providing care to #COVID19 patients and saving innumerable lives. On #InternationalNursesDay, offer my gratitude to the frontline warriors who are working with dedication and determination to save lives and improve case recoveries.”
International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. The theme for this year is Nurses: A Voice to Lead — Nursing the World to Health.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had also paid his respect to the nurses and had appreciated them for being in the front line, risking their lives to save others, not only during COVID-19.
He said that nurses are a bridge between the health system and the community and they have been doing so ever since the nursing profession actually started.
