IITTM Bhubaneswar celebrates International Women’s Day Celebration 2021

Bhubaneswar:13//3/21:Like every year, IITTM Bhubaneswar celebrated its International Women’s Day on 7th and 8th March 2021 with enthusiasm. Nodal Officer of the center, Dr.Md.S Hussain in an in-house meeting spoke about the significance of March 8th, 2021, a day to reflect upon and recognize the multifaceted roles women render in different spheres of life. They contribute massively to the lives of their family members and the country, he said. He felicitated all women employees of the center.


On this occasion, IITTM in collaboration with Sarna Educational and Cultural Services organized a unique heritage walk in the holy Ekamra Kshetra, Bhubaneswar on 7th March 2021, ” Celebrating Womanhood in Stone”. The coordinator of this event, Dr. Adyasha Das, Associate Professor stated that the heritage temple walk was an attempt to rediscover the images of empowered women depicted on the walls of the ancient temples. Old Town Bhubaneswar, popularly known as Ekamra Kshetra is the focal point of  Kalingan temple architecture. Ekamra Kshetra has been listed in UNESCO’S tentative list of World Heritage sites. The tour commentary, orchestrated by Jitu Mishra and Rosalin Dash, co-founders of Sarna, included facts, figures, and interesting stories related to the ancient edifices and shrines, drawn from history and mythology. Attended by more than 50 heritage enthusiasts, journalists, academicians & professionals, the walk focused on forgotten stories, art, and architecture of ancient temples in the chosen circuit- Parasurameshwar, Kedar Gouri, Mukteshwar, Bindusagar, SukaSari & Lingaraj temples.This unique endeavour of IITTM has been widely appreciated.
