Ratha Katha Anukula’ ritual, chariot construction for the annual Rath Yatra was performed

Puri: 16/2/21:On the occasion of auspicious ‘Basant Panchami’ today, the ‘Ratha Katha Anukula’ ritual, the initiation of the chariot construction for the annual Rath Yatra was performed. The Shree Jagannatha Temple’s Rajapurohit conducted the ritual in presence of the temple administration officials, the District Collector, and Servitors.

Three ‘Dhaura’ logs that will be used for the construction of the chariots were placed in front of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office. Acting as per the tradition, the Rajapurohit and Strotiya Brahmins worshipped the three 12-ft ‘Dhaura’ logs.

Chief Administrator of the SJTA, Krishan Kumar said, “On Basant Panchami, the ‘Ratha Katha Anukula’ ritual, the initiation of the chariot construction, was performed today. The logs have been brought from Nayagarh.”

The ‘Ratha Katha Chirata’ ritual will be held on ‘Rama Nabami’ and the construction of the chariots will begin from ‘Akshaya Tritya’. The annual world-famous Rath Yatra will be held in Puri on July 12 this year.
