CONSTITUTION DAY OBSERVED AT IIT BHUBANESWAR AMIDST THE PANDEMIC

Bhubaneswar:26/11/20: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar celebrated the “Constitution Day” also known as “Samvidhan Divas” to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India as per the directives of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The reading of the preamble by Shri. Ram NathKovind, Hon’ble President of India (both in Hindi and English) along with the live telecast from the All India Presiding Officers at Kevadia, Gujarat via video conferencing mode took place at the scheduled time in front of the gathering consisting of faculty, officers, and staff of the Institute.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, “On this day, back in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India formally adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect on 26th Jan 1950. Our Constitution guards the rights and dignity of every citizen which has been ensured owing to the farsightedness of its architects. The day is celebrated to value and preserve the rich heritage of composite culture for developing the scientific temper, humanism to promote harmony, reforms with the right spirit of common brotherhood amongst all countrymen. It is also a mark of tribute to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the first Law Minister of India, who played a pivotal role in the framing of the Indian Constitution. I hope that the ‘Constitution Day’ reinforces our obligation towards upholding constitutional ideals and values thus contributing to nation-building by marching ahead to the path of progress.”

The Institute observed this day in a simple function by adhering to all the social distancing parameters in view of the ongoing pandemic. The reading of the preamble and the pledge administration (both in Hindi and English) took place at the scheduled time in front of the gathering consisting of faculty, officers, and staff of the Institute. Also present on the occasion were Prof. V.R. Pedireddi, Dean, Student Affairs, Shri. DebarajRath, Registrar (I/c), IIT Bhubaneswar along with faculty, officers, and staff of the Institute.
