NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY OBSERVED AT IIT BHUBANESWAR AMIDST THE PANDEMIC

Bhubaneswar:13/11/20: National Education Day was celebrated on the eve of the birth anniversary of Shri. MaulanaAbulKalam Azad, great freedom fighter, eminent educationist, The first Union Minister of education at IIT Bhubaneswar. The event was initiated with a floral ceremonial tribute by Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof.R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar says, “As the first Minister of Education, soon after independence, under the leadership of Shri. MaulanaAbulKalam Azad, several important initiatives like setting up of IIT Kharagpur and thereby the IIT systems, IISc Bangalore, School of Planning and Architecture and University Grants Commission ( UGC), all of these initiatives taken and the seeds sown proved to be iconic, offering the best of education in the respective domains, and were a part, an act of outstanding vision. He believed that India as a nation should aspire for high educational standards and never compromise on that count.  At IIT Bhubaneswar too, we are committed to promoting education of global standards which are fine-tuned to be in sync with the fast-changing technical scenarios.”

Today on the eve of National Education Day, he called upon the IIT Bhubaneswar family to pay homage to the great personality, derive inspiration and rededicate ourselves for the cause of Education and provide leadership in Education for the Nation.

The Institute observed this day in a simple function by adhering to all the social distancing parameters in view of the ongoing pandemic. Also present on the occasion were Prof. V.R. Pedireddi, Dean Student Affairs, Dr. P. K. Sahu, Dean Academics, Prof. Brahma Deoand Shri. DebarajRath, IIT Bhubaneswaralong with faculty, officers, and staff of the Institute.
