IITTM and Odisha Tourism organize workshop on “Facing the New Normal”.

Bhubaneswar:5/11/20: A Workshop on “Facing the New Normal – Opening up Hotels, Restaurants and Other Hospitality Units in Odisha”  was conducted by Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management (An Autonomous Body under Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India) , sponsored by Odisha Tourism at the State Convention Centre, Lok Seva Bhawan Premises, Bhubaneswar on 4th November 2020. This was designed for hoteliers, restaurant owners, and other hospitality units of the State with a view to enhancing their preparedness and expertise in minimizing the negative impact on tourism due to the pandemic.

Sri Asit Kumar Tripathy, IAS Chief Secretary of Odisha inaugurated the workshop and lauded the initiative while urging the participants to accept the changes of the new normal. Sri Vishal Kumar Dev IAS, Secretary, Tourism, Sri Sachin R. Jadhav, IAS Director Tourism, Dr. Md. Sabir Hussain, Nodal Officer, IITTM, and Shri J. K. Mohanty, Chairman, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha were the other dignitaries on the dais. Faculty members of IITTM, resource persons and senior officers from Dept. of Tourism, OTDC were also present on this occasion. More than 140 participants including prominent Hoteliers, Restaurant Owners, and other hospitality units of the State attended the workshop. However, more than 2000 Stakeholders from the hospitality industries and Institutions participated through the virtual mode.

Sri Debasis Pattnaik, Director, Hotel Crown, Bhubaneswar, Mrs Sarada Ghosh, Principal, IHM, Bhubaneswar, and Dr.Md.S. Hussain, Nodal Officer, IITTM, Bhubaneswar presented on sessions of “Pandemic Preparedness and Response measures in Food Production and F & B Service Operation in Hotel and Restaurant Industry”, “Protocols for ensuring adequate safety measures in accommodation units with special reference to House Keeping Operation” and “Coronavirus Emergence and Trajectory – Personal and Institutional Prevention respectively. The program was hosted by Dr. Adyasha Das, Associate Professor, IITTM.
