Bhubaneswar, Nov 3: 70 percent, and 69.9 percent voting turnout was recorded in Balasore Sadar and Tirtol by-polls respectively by 6 pm despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
This was informed by Odisha Chief Electoral Officer Sushil Kumar Lohani at a presser held here. He said that the final turnout is likely to increase further.
Sources said that voting was continuing at 30 booths and 120 booths in Balasore and Tirtol respectively.
The by-polls to both the seats have been necessitated by the demise of sitting BJP MLA Madan Mohan Dutta ( Balasore) and sitting BJD legislator Bishnu Das (Tritol). The counting of votes is scheduled to be held on November 10.
