Odisha government launched a unitary portal to provide 21 different scholarships

Bhubaneswar27/10/20: In order to ensure students in Odisha avail of scholarships in a hassle-free manner, the State government today launched a unitary portal to provide 21 different scholarships offered by six departments. The move is expected to benefit more than 11 lakh students of the State.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the scholarship portal, www.scholarship.odisha.gov.in under the State government’s 5T initiative.

Patnaik said students can apply for different scholarships through the website while being at their home within the stipulated time period. This will also bring different departments and scholarship aspirants closer.

The ST & SC Development, Higher Education, School and Mass Education, Labour and ESI, Skill Development, and Technical Education and Agriculture departments will offer their scholarships on the portal. As the State Treasury is linked to the portal, scholarship amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible students who have applied through the portal, said an official.

While launching another portal, www.sumangal.odisha.gov.in to provide a Rs 2.5 lakh incentive for inter-caste marriages, Patnaik stated social harmony will prevail with this kind of marriage., to grant incentive to inter-caste married couples under Odisha Right to Public Services Act, 2012. Applicants need to apply through sumangal.odisha.gov.in

Among others, Minister Jagannath Saraka, the Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, Chief Advisor at the CMO, the 5T Secretary, and other senior officials were present during the program.
