Odisha Assembly Stalls Over Hathras Incident

Bhubaneswar:3/10/20: The fourth day of the Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session today began with a stormy note after opposition Congress created a ruckus in the House over the sensational gang-rape of a 19-year-old girl in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh.

Soon after the proceedings began, Congress MLAs stood up from their seats and started sloganeering against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath protesting the horrific incident. During the protest, the legislators later rushed to the well of the House and demanded the resignation of the UP CM. The party MLAs also condemned the UP police’s manhandling of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on their way to Hathras to meet the family of the gang-rape victim. Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra termed the ‘hand-handedness’ of the UP police as unfortunate.
