Odisha Chief Minister has thanked the MLAs and PRI representatives of Kendrapara district for their best efforts to contain COVID-19

Bhubaneswar:20/8/20:Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has thanked the MLAs and PRI representatives of Kendrapara district for their best efforts to contain COVID-19.

Interacting with Sarpanches and MLAs of the district through video conferencing on Thursday, Patnaik said if Biju Babu were alive today he would have been extremely pleased for their act. The Chief Minister said he is proud of their act to contain the dreaded virus and added that Sarpanches must remain alert until the fear of coronavirus is over.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Kendrapara tops the recovery rate of 77 percent in the state and the death rate is limited to 0.33 percent. This is the lowest in the country. The infection rate in Kendrapara is 2.25 percent which is lowest in the state.

The Chief Minister said the Sarpanches have come up to his expectations by exercise powers of Collectors vested in them to contain COVID-19. He said they deserve heartfelt thanks for their efforts.

Patnaik said nearly 55000 people have returned to Kendrapara from different regions of the country during coronavirus pandemic and added that the COVID management has been very effective throughout.  This has made Kendrapara as a model district, he added.

The Chief Secretary said the process of development and coronavirus related work in Kendrapara will go hand in hand.

The MLAs and Sarpanches interacted with officials and gave their feedback. The programme was attended by 5T Secretary, Development Commissioner, Addl Chief Secretary, health and COVID Observer of Kendrapara.
