BMC Conducts Free Antigen Test Of 55 Media professionals

Bhubaneswar: 22/7/20Rapid antigen test was conducted by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) with technical support from the State Health Department.

In order to know the present condition and then and there result, the test kit developed was used for 55 media professionals at Saheed Nagar Kalyan Mandap. The test result has been found negative for all 55 samples, the civic body said.

The BMC has appealed to all the media professionals to keep on the practices of fighting against COVID-19.

” Media can be quite helpful for behaviour change of citizen with regards to focusing on prevention practices,” said BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary.

Besides, with technical support from ICMR-RMRC, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation carried out a serological survey among the general population of the city. In the first round of surveillance, community pockets were covered where 951 samples drawn.

Analysis of samples has been completed and an interim report submitted by the study team of RMRC. It has been found that community-level exposure to SARS Cov 2 virus is relatively low with a pooled Seroprevalence of 1.42%.

This implies that large scale transmission has probably not occurred in the city. Hence it ethical not to pass on or disseminate panic messages. Rather every concerned citizen has a role to play fight against Covid19.

A large majority of the population is still susceptible to the infection and hence all preventive measures of social distancing, use of masks among others prescribed by the Government need to be adhered to without complacency.

The team is collecting samples from selected high-risk groups at present and a full report will be submitted after analysis of the same.
