Bhubaneswar:7/7/20: IITTM, the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Bhubaneswar organized the inaugural function of its 4 days online certification program in ”Curating Heritage Walks” .This uniquely crafted program is being offered in collaboration with Cuttack Heritage Walks and has attracted participation from academicians, researchers, students, travel professionals, media and travel bloggers. The virtual inauguration of the event was done by the Chief Guest: Dr.Sitikantha Mishra, Hon’ble Member BOG, IITTM and Adviser-cum-Dean, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Siksha O Anusandhan Deemed University. He elaborated on how heritage walks trigger interests of preservation and conservation of heritage among local bodies, state government, politicians, local communities, heritage management experts, and institutions.
The Director IITTM, Prof.(Dr) Alok Sharma emphasized how walks help generate revenue for curators and the upkeep of lesser-known structures while keeping history alive for future generations. The Guests of Honour for the function were Shri R.K.Suman, Deputy Director-General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Shri Dipak Samantarai, Director, Cuttack Heritage Walks and Shri Anil Dhir, INTACH, Bhubaneswar. Shri Bikash R. Das, heritage enthusiast, wildlife conservationist and trainer of the program joined from Bangalore. Dr. Md. Sabir Hussain, Nodal Officer & Program Director, IITTM Bhubaneswar extended the welcome address as well as the vote of thanks. Dr.Adyasha Das, Associate Professor and Program Co-ordinator hosted the program. IITTM Bhubaneswar has been in the limelight for its successful training programs, apart from its academic courses.
