Bhubaneswar:1/07/20: Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C) Prahlad Singh Patel announced on June 27, 2020, that the Ministry has decided to celebrate “Sankalp Parva” from June 28 to July 12, 2020, and plant trees as desired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture has recommended to plant five trees that have been identified by Hon’ble PM Modi and which represent the herbal heritage of our country. As part of “Sankalp Parv” Campaign, the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Bhubaneswar had an inauguration of the campaign on 29.06.2020. The Chief Guest for the program Shri. Priyadarshi Mishra(Ex.MLA), Chairman, Odisha State Housing Board, inaugurated the function by planting a tree. The other dignitaries present on this occasion were Dr. Md. Sabir Hussain(Nodal Officer), Dr.Adyasha Das( Associate Professor), Dr. Swajan, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the “Sankalp Parv” Campaign, faculty and staff members of the IITTM Bhubaneswar.
. Along with the Chief Guest, the Nodal Officer and faculty members planted trees on this occasion. The Chief Guest, Shri Mishra spoke about the relevance and need of planting trees and creating a green environment for protection of environment. The Nodal Officer, Dr. Md. Sabir Hussain shared his thoughts on the sustainability of the environment through this campaign and called for a slogan for “Sankalp Parv” , “Plant and adopt a tree with us”. The programme was overwhelmingly successful. COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of a clean and healthy environment. India’s herbal wealth has enough strength to enable us to sail through the period safely.
