Bhubaneswar: 21/6/20: As many as 304 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in last 24 hours bringing the total number of infections so far in Odisha to 5,160, official data suggested Sunday.
According to Department of Information and Public Relations (I&PR) of the state government, out of the 304 infections, 272 were reported from quarantine centres and 32 were local cases. The numbers include 42 fire and NDRF personnel who returned from West Bengal after cyclone Amphan duty and tested positive from quarantine centres.
Fresh cases were reported from 21 districts. While Khurdha reported 5 cases, Malkangiri had 2, Cuttack – 13, Nayagarh -3, Jagatsinghpur – 29, Jharsuguda – 25, Balasore- 17, Dhenkanal-1, Sonepur- 4, Kandhamal- 12, Bhadrak- 11, Bargarh- 14, Jajpur- 21, Ganjam- 40, Gajapati – 47, Puri-3, Sundargarh- 1, Sambalpur- 2, Bolangir- 1, Mayurbhanj- 6 and Kendrapara -5 cases.
Odisha has so far reported 14 deaths with two deaths being reported in last 24 hours. Five others who tested positive for COVID-19 died of other underlying conditions with one of them dying in last 24 hours.
“Another Covid positive 49 year old Male patient of Ganjam district passed away in hospital. He was also a patient of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Regret to inform that a 76 year old Covid positive Male of Bargarh district passed away while under treatment in hospital. He was also suffering from diabetes for long,” state health department said on Twitter.
The state has so far conducted 2,24,402 tests.
According to state government data as of Sunday morning, 5,160 people have so far tested positive for COVID-19 in the state out of which 1,607 cases are active, 3,534 have recovered and 14 persons have died. Five persons, who were diagnosed with COVID-19 died of co-morbidities while under treatment.
