Bhubaneswar:28/5/20: Odisha is a lead performer in COVID-19 management. This was known from a high-level meeting on public health response to the COVID-19 held under the Chairmanship of Central Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gouba in which Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family Welfare Pradeepta Kumar Mohapatra along with senior officers of Odisha participated over video conferencing from Lok Seva Bhawan today.
Review shows that Odisha has been a lead performer in management of the Global pandemic COVID-19. The rate of COVID test per million population in the State is 3029 against all India average of 2490. One positive case is found in Odisha out of around 84 sample tests against the national average of one case per 21 tests. The case-fatality ratio in Odisha, as of now, is 0.42% against the national average of 2.86%. Till today a total number of 1,39, 311 COVID tests have been completed in the State. The recovery rate in Odisha is around 49% against all India average of 42%. In the recent week, the number of daily recovery and discharge from Hospitals and TMCs is more than the positive cases found on the same day, said Additional Chief Secretary Sri Mohapatra. The wave of community participation through PRI and SHGs has been another achievement of Odisha. TMCs and quarantine centers are being managed at the panchayat level through active participation of the Sarpanch, elected representatives, SHGs, and the people.
