Newdelhi:13/5/20: Odisha cadre IAS Manoj Ahuja has been appointed as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) yesterday.Mr. Ahuja takes over the reins of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from Ms. Anita Karwal IAS, who was been appointed as the Secretary (School Education and Literacy), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
Before taking over CBSE – the national-level secondary school board of the country, Manoj Ahuja was serving as the Special Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Department of Personnel and Training. He is an IAS officer belonging to the 1990 Odisha Cadre.
According to the details shared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Ministry of Personnel; for the appointment of Mr. Ahuja as CBSE chairperson, the post has been temporarily upgraded to the rank and pay level of rank and pay of Additional Secretary to Government of India.
After his appointment as the CBSE Board Chairperson, the first major challenge before Mr. Manoj Ahuja would be to deal with the pending CBSE Board Exam 2020 for 10th and 12th Class students, which have been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, the HRD Minister announced that CBSE Board Exam 2020 will be held from 1st to 15th July 2020. So far, the board has not yet announced the subject-wise detailed exam datasheet and also not specified the logistical arrangements that are currently underway for the conduct of the examination.
