Bhubaneswar16/4/20:: In view of the nationwide lockdown, the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) of Odisha has announced special rebate of 4% on and above the existing rebates and incentives for all consumers making the payment during April’20.
The consumers who could not pay during the rebates dates falling between 22.03.2020 to 31.3.2020 in the month of March’20 can also get rebates, the CESU said in a press note.
CESU is carrying out this work diligently in all the 400- Primary Sub-stations, offices, 71,000 Distribution Transformers, and 300 offices spread across its license area through its 8000 workforces working day and night. While the power supply activities are continuing CESU is finding it difficult to carry out its commercial activities like meter reading, billing, and collections.
In view of the need to maintain social distancing norms to prevent the spread of COVID-19, CESU has decided the following steps to continue its day-to-day activities of consumer grievance redressal, billing, collection, and maintenance.
CESU meets all its expenses like power purchase cost, employee costs, Repair and Maintenance cost, Administrative and General expenses through revenue collection from its 27-lakh consumers on a month-to-month basis. Hence, if the collection is not adequate to meet its expenses, then CESU will find difficult to manage day-to-day activities. Therefore, CESU requests all its consumers to make their payment through digital modes.
The Government has declared National Lockdown until 03.05.2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, during this period Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha (CESU) is working 24 X 7 to provide power supply to around 27 lakh households in its licensee area for ensuring their comfortable stay in their home during this lockdown period.
