Covid-19 testing capacity of RMRC increased to 1000 samples per day

Bhubaneswar:10/4/20: Modern equipment COBAS has been installed in Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) and with this, the testing capacity has increased to 1000 per day, informed state government’s coronavirus (COVID-19) spokesperson Subroto Bagchi today.

He also said that around 4000 testing kits were airlifted from Mumbai via a special cargo plane last evening to further strengthen COVID-19 testing in Odisha.

Officials said that RMRC used to conduct 100 tests every day in March first week which was subsequently increased to 350 samples each day in April. “With the new machine, the testing capacity will further increase to 1000 samples per day. We have also sought permission to start similar testing in other health establishments in the state and the testing capacity is likely to increase to 1175 per day,” said an official.
