BMC has roped in three agencies for the supply of essential commodities in Surya Nagar locality

Bhubaneswar:3/4/20: Following the sealing of the entire Surya Nagar area in the city after the tracing out of the 5th COVID-19 positive case of Odisha, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has roped in three agencies for the supply of essential commodities in Surya Nagar locality.

The civic body has got Yellow Loof, Biryani Box and Milk Mantra for maintaining the supply chain, comprising groceries, vegetables, eggs, milk, curd and paneer (cottage cheese).

While Yellow Loof has its online delivery system these two others i.e. Yellow Loof and Biryani Box are having direct cast and cash transfer facilities with them. These agencies supplied the essential commodities twice today i.e. early morning and afternoon hours and supplied more than 1000 liters of milk today to the people of Surya Nagar.

While the suppliers of the essential medicines will be coordinated by the State Government, PDS supplies will be given out after two days as the city along with Cuttack and Bhadrak goes into 48 hours shut down by the government to contain the community spread of COVID-19.

Senior officials of BMC and other departments have been entrusted to coordinate the supply chain as nearby 1000 families of Surya Nagar are completely blocked due to sealing of the area, a sticker has been pasted in front of each household or establishment about the SOP on containing the COVID-19 pandemic spread and maintaining the norms of social distancing.
