Keonjhar: 31/1/20:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Anandpur barrage over the Baitarani river here on Friday. The Odisha CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for different developmental projects in the district.
The 490-meter-long barrage, constructed at a cost of Rs 475 crore has a water holding capacity of 350 lakh cubic meter. It will provide irrigation facilities to around 60,000 hectares farmlands in Keonjhar and Balasore districts.
The project will majorly benefit Anandpur, Hatadihi and Ghasipura blocks of Keonjhar district and Khaira, Oupada, Nilagiri, Bahanaga, Balasore Sadar, Remuna and Soro blocks of Balasore district.
Among others, MLA Raghunandan Das, Badri Narayan Patra, and MP Chandrani Murmu were present at the event.
Patnaik also attended the platinum jubilee celebrations of BN High School, the oldest educational institution in the Anandapur subdivision of Keonjhar district.
