Bhubaneswar:23/11/19: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday congratulated everybody on the occasion of Utkal University’s Platinum Jubilee celebration that was inaugurated today.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural event, the Odisha CM said: “Utkal University has a pre-eminence in the National Higher Education Map of India. It has always taken the responsibility of leading the State’s educational aspirations by achieving academic excellence. It has also been serving the learning needs of the state and the nation through the creation of potential young minds. This reminds me of the contribution of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati, Pandit Nilakantha Das and Pandit Godabaris Mishra among others who visualised the capitalisation of the State’s intellectual resources through this university. I pay my sincere tributes to these great sons of Odisha on this occasion.”
Patnaik also acknowledged the role of teachers and lectures in building the framework of the institution and stated:” Teachers and students are the principal players in an institution like this. Teaching-Learning is an ongoing and evolving process. Management, infrastructure, learning resources, and even curriculum are facilitating factors. The outcome of this entire exercise is a quality human resources. ”
Describing the current generation as the real potential of a nation, the Odisha CM stated, ” Their education, knowledge, creativity, innovation abilities and an undaunted spirit to conquer the world will decide the future of the nation. As Odisha is now moving on the path of an unprecedented development process creating global benchmarks in many fields, I would call upon you to join this movement making your presence felt at all levels of success and achievements.”
Patnaik concluded his speech by wishing for a bright future for everyone connected to the varsity.
Among others, Higher Education Minister Dr Arun Kumar Sahoo, Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subrato Bagchi, university Vice-Chancellor Prof Soumendra Mohan Patnaik, Registrar Dayanidhi Nayak, Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Rout and PG Council Chairman Sabita Acharya were present.
