Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports proposed for hosting the upcoming all India University Games at Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar:2/11/19; Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Lok Seva Bhawan here on Friday.

Rijuju was in the city to inaugurate the Hockey Olympic qualifiers being held at the Kalinga Stadium. “Naveen Patnaik Ji is a very senior leader and respectable Chief Minister of the country. I came here for a courtesy call,” he said.


The Union Minister praised Odisha Government’s commitment for development of sports in the State. He proposed Naveen for hosting the upcoming all India University Games at Bhubaneswar. He added that Odisha has transformed into a sports hub and successfully hosted national and international events.

“It is important to note that Odisha Government has taken very important steps to encourage sports. I congratulated the Chief Minister for all that he has done for promotion of sports,” he added. Union Sports Secretary, Director General of Sports Authority of India and other senior officials accompanied Rijiju during the courtesy call to Odisha CM.
