Odisha Government has approved a slew of projects and initiatives for the Tourism sector

Bhubaneswar23/10/19:: In another boost to development of tourism industry in the State, Government has approved a slew of projects and initiatives today in the Tourism Advisory Committee Meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy in Lok Seva Bhawan wherein Secretary Tourism Vishal Kumar Dev outlined the issues for discussion.

Reviewing the tourism scenario in the State, Chief Secretary Tripathy directed the department to focus on development of ‘tourism destination spots’ and promotion of Odisha tourism in different parts of India so as to attract more domestic tourists. Tripathy further directed to start ‘mo sarkar’ initiatives in the department of tourism and develop various destinations as per the feedback from the people and tourists.

Replying to a media query after the meeting, Secretary Tourism Dev said that it was decided to take up nine tourism circuits and 13 destinations in different parts of the State for development under new tourism promotion activities. The major ones included development of Rambha tourism cluster, Kantilo cluster, Gandhi circuit, Sun City Konanark, Buddhist circuit, Daringbadi complex, Samuka Beach. Konark marine drive eco-retreat, houseboat operations in different places, surfing festival at Puri and DAK Bungalow trail in Odisha.

Principal Secretary Forest & Environment Dr. Mona Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance Ashok Kumar Meena, Principal Secretary Revenue & Disaster Management Sri Nikunjabihari Dhal, Principal Secretary Home Sanjeeb Chopra, Director Tourism Sachin Ramchandra Yadav along with tour representatives from Tour Operator Association, Travel Agent Association, and Hotel & Restaurant Associations participated in the discussions.
