International senior citizens day 2019 observed by Government of Odisha

  • To stay fit always, on the eve of International Senior Citizens Day 2019 a Yoga Camp organized for senior citizens at IG Park
  • To create awareness among the society about safety and security of senior citizens an awareness walkathon organized from IG Park to Utkal Mandap
  • A state level function for senior citizens celebrated at Utkal Mandap where five senior citizens were felicitated for their noble achievement

 Bhubaneswar, 1st October 2019: To make society senior citizens friendly, on the eve of International Senior Citizens Day 2019, a state level function was organized by the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha at Utkal Mandap here today.

 Chief Guest Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister, Department of Science & Technology, Public Enterprises and Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha inaugurated such noble event. Among others Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha, Shri Sudhanshu Sekhar Sarangi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Twin City, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Shri Ananta Narayan Jena, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar Central and Smt. Bratati Harichandan, Director, Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha were also present during this event.

 During the felicitation ceremony at Utkal Mandap, Katak Baristha Nagarika Mahasabha, Cuttack was being felicitated as Best Institution for providing services to senior Citizens and Awareness Generation. Shri Narasingh Prasad Guru , Balangir was being felicitated for Life time achievements in (Humanities) in the field of Art / Literature / Culture / dance / Music / Cinema / Sculpture /  Photograph etc, Shri Golakanath Behera , Rayagada felicitated for his Life Time achievements in field of aging i.e care / protection / health care / social work / community development / medicine, Shri Debananda Patra , Phulbani felicitated for his Life time achievement in sports and adventure and Shri Nagendra Kumar Mishra , Khordha was being felicitated Best Individual effort in services to the aged.

 At the outset of the day for senior citizens a Yoga camp was organized at IG Park on 7 AM to make our senior citizens stay fit always where huge number of footfalls was witnessed. Renowned Ollywood actor Shri Sabyasachi Mishra moderated this yoga camp with many other Ollywood actor and actress. Followed by the Yoga camp, an awareness walkathon was also organized for creating awareness among the society about safety and security of senior citizens. Eventually cultural programmes were staged by renowned artists from Odisha at Utkal Mandap.

He had made solid contribution on cinema in many odia Dailies and weekly such as Samaj, Prajatantra, Dharatri, Samaya, Satabadi, and weekly Samaya.
