Newdelhi:22/9/19:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Indian diaspora at Houston a short while from now with US President Donald Trump joining him in a rare gesture. The Howdy Modi event is being organized by the Texas India Forum where 50,000 Indian Americans will be attending.
Teenage singing prodigy Sparsh Shah will be a part of the special cultural programme to reflect the US-India cultural ties at the ‘Howdy Modi!, Shared Dreams, Bright Futures’ community event. The 90-minute programme, ‘Woven: The Indian-American Story’, will have a music, dance and multimedia show. The programme has been prepared to celebrate the contributions the Indian-Americans have made in the United States.
Speaking about the event, Sparsh said, he is honoured and humbled to be invited to sing the Indian National Anthem in the presence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.
More than a 1,000 Gujaratis from Houston will present a Mega Dandiya, the traditional Gujarati dance, to welcome the Prime Minister for this grand event.
Prime Minister at this special event is likely to lay out his vision of India’s growth and development. Mr Modi feels that the power of the diaspora should be harnessed for the growth of India.
Cultivating the Indian diaspora has been a major objective of him since he took office. The Prime Minister is unique amongst his predecessors in not just recognizing the value of millions of Indians living abroad, but actively trying to reach them as well.
He views the global Indian community as citizen ambassadors of India and contributing to India’s growth and development agenda. Undoubtedly, PM’s outreach with Howdy Modi will help cement India’s image abroad.
After the Howdy Modi event, Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the unveiling of plaque for groundbreaking ceremony of Eternal Gandhi Museum and inauguration of Gujarati Samaj Houston Event Centre and Shri Siddhi Vinayak Temple in Houston. Then, Prime Minister will emplane for New York .
