Phoolvari – a gardening startup by high school students gets global recognition through TiE Delhi-NCR’s TiE Young Entrepreneurs Program

New Delhi, 6th August, 2019: Age is no bar for dreaming big. Phoolvari, an innovative gardening startup established by high school students, has proved this with the support of TiE Delhi-NCR, one of the most vibrant chapters across the vast TiE network. Through its global TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) initiative, TiE is giving wings to students’ imagination and acting as a unique catalyst for budding entrepreneurs.

 Phoolvari has made its mark on the dynamic Indian start-up landscape by gaining global recognition through TiE’s global TYE program. Phoolvari was launched in May 2019 under the TYE initiative by a team of 6. It is already a thriving startup that provides plant delivery, gardening, consultation services and much more.

 TiE Delhi-NCR organized a grand convocation ceremony at the American Center where Conrad Turner, Counsellor for Cultural Affairs, U.S. EmbassyNew Delhi was present as the guest of honor. The winning teams of the regional finals were felicitated along with other participants. The 1st Prize winner, Team Phoolvari (a startup that can solve all your gardening problems) comprised Anoushka Chakraborty, Eshan Goel, Manvi Sidana, Stuti Saria, Shreyansh Jain, Vanshaj Chhabra; 2nd Prize winner Team Zap-E-Scrap (a startup aimed at effective management and safe disposal of E-waste) included Anushka Bansal, Arjun Pajni, Pranay Ahuja, Prarthna Batra, satyam Mehta, Tarini Kapoor, Vaibhav Sethi and 3rd Prize winner Senior Saathi (a tool to manage health of elderly and incapacitated population who are unable to move and need constant care) included Aditi Arora, akshara Agarwal, Avii Ahuja, Idhant Sood, Manjeev Singh Sahni, Sarthak Gupta.

 The overarching goal of TYE is to train driven high school students and foster entrepreneurial skills among them. It is encouraging young students to brainstorm ideas and turn them into lucrative business models. By recognizing potential and offering support in terms of mentorship and finances, TYE is facilitating a vibrant startup ecosystem in India.

 Commenting on the initiative, Ms. Geetika Dayal, Executive Director, TiE Delhi-NCR, “Young minds are powerhouses of fresh ideas and can produce exponential value if given a chance. TYE is providing a window for young minds to explore their creative side and create something disruptive. This initiative has been identifying simple yet powerful and impactful ideas, this year’s being Phoolvari. We wish to inspire students to create more such startups, that can drive the startup ecosystem of the country.”

 TYE is a global Initiative by TiE that aims to empower next-gen entrepreneurs and leaders. Initiated in 2010, this year the program has witnessed its 9th batch of students. With a unique and interactive approach towards learning, the curriculum enrolls students from various high schools in Delhi-NCR. The students are enrolled for classroom interaction for a span of eight weeks conducted at IIT, Delhi. They are mentored by TiE Charter members and members, who come from the emerging businesses background. At the end of each batch, the selected teams participate in TYE Global Business Plan, where they get a chance to win $15K worth of cash and kind awards. The judging panel of the competition comprises of VCs, Entrepreneurs and lawyers from across the globe.
