Naveen Patnaik wrote to Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel on the omission of Odisha’s tourism destinations from list

Bhubaneswar:11/7/19:Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik wrote to Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel on the omission of Odisha’s tourism destinations from list of 17 Iconic Tourism Sites to be developed by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. He cited that tourism contributes about 13% to the state’s GDP & needs a strategic boost to grow further.

CM wrote, Odisha has a mesmerizing array of tourism sites, from ancient to modern & from manmade marvels to nature’s most captivating abodes, including Konark Sun Temple, Chilika Lake, Bhitarkanika National Park, Similipal National Park and Diamond Triangle Buddhist Circuit.

CM requested GOI to consider inclusion of at least two of the tourist places from Odisha in its list of Iconic Tourism Sites. CM welcomed the inclusion of Mahendragiri Peak as one of the 15 thematic destinations to be developed under Swadesh Darshan Scheme for ‘Ramayan Circuit’.
