Puri:8/6/19: Union  Minister Dhramendra PradhanReviewed progress on FaniCyclone restoration in Puri along with Shri Pratap Sadangi, Shri Sambit Patra, Shri Jayanta Sadangi, and Shri Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mahapatra.

The meeting was attended by associations of Puri Hotel industry & Rice mills; national, private & regional rural banks; coir board & district administration.

There has been good progress in restoration with around 30% hotels being currently functional. Loan restructuring for hotel industry has been initiated as per RBI guidelines. Suggested banks to expedite loan processing & the restoration of ATMs & point of sales (POS) devices before the upcoming RathYatra festival.

Minister  suggested insurance providers to consider the request of hotel association members for around 30% interim payment.

16 out of 18 rice mills in Puri district have been affected. Suggested banks to consider the request of association members for defering interest payment and financial assistance under MSME schemes.

Urged banks to increase the loan docket especially in hotel & priority sector lending and support new projects to rebuild the tourism ecosystem of Puri. Agencies such as ORMAS, NABARD along with RSETIs can be roped in to ensure speedy economic revival.

Suggested the banks to conduct a one day brainstorming with all stakeholders to develop a blue print for the economic revival of the affected areas by leveraging the power of MUDRA loans and the expertise of FINTECH agencies.
