Odisha Government put on display the attire and outfits of the mountaineer Kalpana Das at the state museum

Bhubaneswar:29/5/19:As a tribute to the Great Iron Lady Kalpana Das the mountaineer of Odisha died on 23rd May while returning back from her 2nd expedition of Mt Everest.Her costume and mountaineering equipment’s are displayed at Odisha State Museum for public.She brings pride for Odisha in 2008 by climbing Mt Everest.She donated her outfits which was used by her during her expedition in 2008 ,to Odisha State Museum.She was also felicitated by the Honourable Governor of Odisha S.C.Jamir on the occasion of museum foundation day 2017.Departmental principal secretary Sri Manoranjan Panigrahy,Joint secretaries Sanghamitra Satpathy & Manaswani Sahu,Dr Jayanti Ratha, Tamasarani DasMohapatra, Suchismita Mantry and Bharati Pal with all the staff of OSM are present in the Occasion.

Meanwhile the State government has sent a team headed by the sports department officials to bring back her mortal remains.

She hailed from Dhenkanal district of Odisha and held a number of records for scaling several high peaks in India, Nepal, South America, Australia and Europe. As per official records, Kalpana had scaled Mt Everest in 2008 from the Nepal side.
