AAparajita Sarangi and Pratap Sarangi likey to find place in the new union ministry

Bhubaneswar: 26/5/19:2019 Lok Sabha elections saw BJP increasing its seat tally from one to eight in the eastern State of Odisha. As Narendra Modi-led National Democatic Alliance government is all set to be sworn in coming days, all eyes are the number of representation that Odisha will have in the union ministry.

Speculations are set in motion about which leaders will make it to the new cabinet.

Jual Oram, State’s lone MP in the 16th Lok Sabha, was rewarded with cabinet ministerial berth while Dharmendra Pradhan, who did not contest polls this time to remain in charge of election management for 2019 polls, hekd the all-important Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship portfoil in the last NDA Government. Pradhan, the poster boy of Odisha BJP, was elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh durinng March 2018.

The reinduction of both Oram and Pradhan appears to be foregone conclusion given the fact that the duo performed creditably during Modi’s 2014-19 tenure as Prime Minister.

If the State BJP unit office bearers are to be believed, Odisha may either bag one or two more berths in the new cabinet.

The names of two Sarangis- Aparajita Sarangi and Pratap Sarangi- stay on the top of those likey to find place in the new ministry. Both incidentally have made theie debut as MPs winning prestigious Bhubaneswar and Balasore seats. Four-time MP Sangeeta Kumari Singhdeo, elected from Bolangir seat, is also in the race. However chances in comparison to two ‘Sarangis’ are on the lower side.

The Sangh Parivar background of Pratap Sarangi may act in his favour to get a ministerial berth while IAS officer-turned- Aparajita Sarangi has several advantages for meriting consideration to find place in the new cabinet.

Pratap Sarangi’s decade-long association with Sangh Parivar, his image as clean and transprent politician may work to his advantage.
