Naveen Patnaik announced a five-year plan for revival of coastal shelter belt & afforestation

Bhubaneswar:19/5/19:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a five-year plan for revival of coastal shelter belt & afforestation programme in aftermath of CycloneFani. Plantation efforts would be doubled from 65 lakh saplings in 2018-19 to 1.3Cr saplings in 2019-20 with afforestation on 800ha of land.

5 lakh trees to be planted in Bhubaneswar under Urban Tree Plantation Programme; 1 lakh this year. 50 lakh saplings will be provided to public free of cost and 30,000 partially uprooted but alive trees will be revived under the programme.

Fruit-bearing trees will be planted on 12,000 ha for reviving livelihood of dependents and 5 lakh fruit-bearing tree saplings to be provided. The programme will facilitate inter-cropping package for three years and creation of 4 lakh nutri-gardens in the state.
