Death toll in Cyclone Fani rose to 43

Bhubaneswar:12/5/19: The death toll in Cyclone Fani rose to 43 today, eight days after the “extremely severe” cyclone ‘Fani’ ripped apart coastal Odisha, causing widespread destruction and leaving hundreds grappling with water shortage and power cuts, an official said.

According to Special Relief Commissioner’s office sources, two more deaths were registered taking the toll to 43 after the storm made a landfall on May 3, flattening fragile houses, uprooting scores of trees, electric poles and mobile towers.
