Pipli police arrested Pradip Maharathy in connection with the attack on Magistrate of Poll Flying Squad

Puri: 22/4/19:Pipli police on Monday arrested BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy in connection with the attack on Magistrate of Poll Flying Squad and the members of Static Surveillance team.

The 15-member Poll Flying Squad,  following a tip-off about the distribution of money and liquor in Maharathy’s farmhouse at Hunkeipur last night, rushed to the spot.

However, upon reaching the farmhouse they were attacked by the supporters of Maharathy inside the farmhouse.

On the basis of the statement of the injured magistrate Rabi Narayan Patra and some video clips which was recorded by the staffs of the flying squad, police interrogated Maharathy at Pipili police station in connection with the attack today and subsequently arrested him.

Puri SP Uma Shankar Dash informed that a case has been lodged against Maharathy under IPC Sections 307, 341, 353, 332, 147, 148, 149, 171 (b), 186 of IPC and 123 of the Representation of the People Act.
