Bhubaneswar:16/4/19: The denizens of Bhubaneswar sizzled in sweltering heat as the state capital on Tuesday recorded 43.7 degree Celsius, the highest temperature in Odisha recorded in the month of April this year.
So far, the highest temperature recorded in Bhubaneswar is 45.8 degrees Celsius on April 11, 2016.
The temperature rose sharply in the capital city after 9 am. By noon, the busy thoroughfare and market places in the city wore a deserted look as the sweltering heat accompanied by hot wind made the life of the people miserable.
Despite thunderstorm and lightning warning in Odisha till the next six days up to April 21 by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no respite from the heat wave.
