Eminent theatre personality Kartik Chandra Rath passed away

Cuttack:1/04/19: Eminent theatre personality, director and organiser of Theatre Olympiad Kartik Chandra Rath passed away today following a prolonged illness. He was 70.

Rath, who had been organising international theatre festival in Cuttack for more than 20 years since 1993, had the credit of over 100 plays to his name.

He had received many prestigious awards in his lifetime including the ‘Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Award’, ‘Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Award’, ‘Odisha Sahitya Akademi Puraskar’ and ‘Utkala Sahitya Samaj’ award.

Born on March 21, 1949 in Berhampur, Rath was a professor by profession. He was teaching economics at the Netaji Subhash Memorial City College.
