BJD has forgotten the ideology of legendary leader Biju Patnaik: Baijayant Panda

Kendrapara :12/3/19: BJP national Vice President and former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda on Monday spewed venom at the Naveen Patnaik government describing it as a corrupt one.

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has forgotten the ideology of legendary leader Biju Patnaik. It has become the safe haven of goons and persons involved in the multi-crore chitfund scam, he alleged.

Panda, in his maiden visit to Kendrapara since joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 4, took a dig at Naveen-led BJD government and said individuals with dubious credentials and a corrupt bunch of bureaucrats are running the government.

Patnaik government has failed miserably on law and order front and crime against women and minors has shot up alarmingly. Safety of women is stake as there has been virtual breakdown of law and order situation across the State, two-time MP Panda said while addressing a rally at Icchapur near Baldevjew temple here today.

Patnaik govt has failed to generate employment to youths and there has been exodus of lakhs of Odia people to overseas and developed states of the country, he said.

Panda was elected to Lok Sabha twice from Kendrapara seat in 2009 and 2014. He was also a two time Rajya Sabha MP.

High-profile and chopper-hopping Panda was suspended from the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD last year on charges of anti-party activities and later he had resigned from the party as well from the Lok Sabha.

He is expected to fight polls from his home turf, Kendrapara Lok Sabha on BJP ticket.
