Naveen Patnaik unveiled KALIA Scholarship (“KALIA Chhatra Brutti”)

Bhubaneswar:19/2/19: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled KALIA Scholarship (“KALIA Chhatra Brutti”) at the Secretariat here today for the children of the KALIA Scheme beneficiaries, who are studying and aspiring for technical and professional education.

After taking the historic step towards transforming the economic standards of the farmers of Odisha through Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA), the State Government has come up with KALIA Scholarship in order to ensure human resource development among the farming families across the State. KALIA Scheme is first of its kind assistance mechanism for farmers in India and has been followed by others as well for its noble means, ideation and inclusiveness.

KALIA Scholarship or “KALIA Chhatra Brutti” will ensure that not a single eligible child of KALIA beneficiaries aspiring for technical and professional education, would be deprived of his/her dream, as through KALIA Scholarship the State Government will bear all expenditure including course fees, hostel fees and mess fees etc.,  so that the children from the farming families would be able to take the economic conditions of their families to higher level after getting proper technical and professional education.

The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment in a letter to Higher Education, Health and Family Welfare, Skill Development and Technical Education and Vice-Chancellor Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, has urged all heads of different Government institutions imparting professional/technical education under their respective departments to immediately intimate their students who are children of KALIA Scheme beneficiaries to apply for the KALIA Scholarship. The students can apply online on the “kalia.co.in/scholarship” portal and can apply from today itself.
