Bhubaneswar:3/2/19 :Country’s largest bank State Bank of India today launched its second edition of annual flagship programme ‘SBI Green Marathon’ to promote sustainability.
Praveena Kala, CGM, Bhubaneswar Circle and Pushan Mahapatra, MD & CEO, SBI General Pvt Ltd. SBI flagged off the event that witnessed nearly 3000 enthusiastic runners in Bhubaneswar.
Kalpana Dash— first Odia mountaineer to scale Mt. Everest, Anuradha Biswal— national record holder for 100m hurdles and Sradhanjali Samantaray—former captain, Indian women’s football team, also graced the event. William Xalxo, former hockey Olympian attended the event as well.
The Sunday morning in the Kalinga Sports Complex observed participants from across the city running 5, 10, 21 Kms marathon, pledging for a greener future.
Senior officials of the bank also contributed to the “Run for Green” theme and ran the marathon along with other participants. All the runners were given organic t-shirts to promote the clean and green city and their bibs consisted of seeds for tree plantation post-Marathon.
SBI in the next 1 month is also rolling out its green marathon in Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Patna, Kolkata and Jaipur with nine marathon events got concluded in New Delhi Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Trivandrum, Guwahati, Bhopal and Chennai in the last 4 months.
