Bhubaneswar :25/1/19: Veteran politician and former finance minister Panchanan Kanungo will join the Congress party in what is being perceived as a major boost the beleaguered party unit in the State.

It may be recalled here that Former minister Kanungo had virtually taken hibernation from active politics a decade. He had resigned from the ruling Biju Janata Dal(BJD) on April 30, 2008 expressing displeasure at the manner the regional party was functioning under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

“I have been offered invitation to join Congress Party. I will attend the rally at Tomando today afternoon and will join the party in the presence of AICC president, Rahul Gandhi”, he said.
