Odisha Government announced the waiving of royalty on ‘Sal’ leaves

Bhubaneswar :22/1/19: In an apparent bid woo tribal voters ahead of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik  announced the waiving of royalty on ‘Sal’ leaves.

Sal Leaf, a minor forest produce (MFP), is a major source of livelihood for forest-dwelling communities in the State. The government was earlier levying Rs 85-per-quintal royalty.

“It will benefit about 25 lakh Sal pluckers of our State.”, according to a release by the Chief Minister’s office
