Patha Utsav will have a theme of “Freedom Fighters of Odisha’’.

Bhubaneswar :18/1/19: With Netaji Jayanti drawing closer, the 75th edition of Patha Utsav, city’s most popular street festival, will have a theme of “Freedom Fighters of Odisha’’.

All participating organisations including the Rangoli makers would also focus on the same idea. The major events besides Rangoli, however, will be patriotic songs by artists at two stages on two ends of the street festival, portrait making of leading freedom fighters of Odisha in a unique way by city-based art and design institution DPR Art Life and story-telling on freedom fighters.

Enforcement Member and Nodal Officer of Patha Utsav in Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Bhabani Shankar Chayani said “Odisha had greatly contributed towards the freedom struggle of India and we have many heroes who inspired others during that struggle. Before the Netaji Jayanti, Patha Utsav would be a perfect arena to remember the great sons of the soil.’’

While Itishree Dixit and her troupe will do the Rangoli with freedom struggle theme based on Odisha, Debi Prasad Rout from DPR Art Life will do special portrait making of some of the leading freedom fighters from Odisha. Lipsha from the same organisation will organise the story-telling session on the freedom fighters.

The main stage backdrop of the 75th Patha Utsav will also don drawings of many freedom fighters from the State, who has fought and lost their valuable lives fighting against the foreign rule.

The Patha Utsav is an initiative of BDA in association with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Odisha Tourism, Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited and Commissionerate Police.
