Undivided Koraput districts met Chief Justice of Orissa High Court urges for a permanent High Court bench

Cuttack:12/1/19: The demand for a permanent High Court bench intensified after the members of various bar associations of undivided Koraput districts met Chief Justice of Orissa High Court today.According to sources, the members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) and various bar associations of the undivided Koraput districts met the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court to press for their demands, for which they have been agitating for the past 4 months.

Undivided Koraput district joint action committee (JAC), member Prabhakar Patnaik said “The Chief Justice of Orissa was kind enough to meet us. He assured us all support for establishment of a permanent High Court bench at any place in undivided Koraput.”

Earlier today Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and reiterated demand for establishment of permanent benches of the Orissa High Court in Western and Southern parts of the State.

In his letter, Patnaik requested the Centre to take an early decision regarding establishment of the HC benches in the western and southern Odisha to fulfil the aspiration of people of these regions.
