Odisha’s Department of Water Resources has been awarded for ‘Effective Participatory Irrigation Management’.

Bhubaneswar:7/1/19: The Department of Water Resources (Odisha) has been acknowledged with the Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP) – 2019 award for ‘Effective Participatory Irrigation Management’.

The state’s Rational Irrigation scheme via Pani Panchayat is one of the highlights for which it was awarded. The state has effectively involved stakeholders and improved capacity through JICA, ADB, RKVY, World Bank, and other Central and State-assisted projects.

The Chief Minister’s Office tweeted, “Odisha’s strive to boost agriculture through effective participatory irrigation management has now received national recognition – CBIP Award 2019. Increased utilization of irrigation potential is a major fillip to farming & socio-economic growth of farmers.”
