To ensure smooth conduct of simultaneous polls 2019, a meeting was held today at the Secretariat

Bhubaneswar:5/1/19: In order to ensure smooth conduct of simultaneous polls 2019, a meeting was held today at the Secretariat to discuss poll expenditure management and the model code of conduct.

Among others, Police DG Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Home Department Special Secretary, Crime Branch ADG Santosh Upadhyay and other senior officers of the police department, income tax, and excise department were present at the meeting held at the office of Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

Talking to the media persons soon after the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha Home department Asit Tripathy said, “Preparations for simultaneous elections are on and discussions over maintaining law and order situation following the Standard Operating Procedure of Election Commission of India during Odisha Elections 2019 are underway.”

“A director has been deputed by the Election Commission of India to deliberate especially on two modules,” added Tripathy.

The meeting and the discussions are conducted under the general superintendence of Election Commission of India as per the Constitution, while deliberations are also being held for conducting free and fair elections, maintaining law and order situation.
